Syndetocrinus dartae Kirk 1933
(a schematic sketch drawn by V. Petr)
The fascinating genus Syndetocrinus Kirk, 1933 was originally placed within inadunate crinoids (Family Crotalocrinitidae, close to the genus Enallocrinus) but represents only a remarkable convergence in the superficial design. After the discovery of its internal structures, it is assigned to be a member of the Family Syndetocrinidae Prokop & Petr 1989 (Camerata, Diplobathrida, Dimerocrinitacea). It comes from the Middle Silurian of Quebec, Bohemia, and Eastern Central Ural. The picture clearly shows (F, G and T) its real camerate characteristics!
